Yellowfin bream (Acanthopagrus australis) — illustration

Illustration: Bloom by Day

Silver, deep-bodied and slab-sided, with yellow in the pelvic and anal fins that shows clearly once you are within a few metres. They work the edges of sand and structure in small groups and are one of the first fish to find you if you disturb the bottom.

Description written for Bloom. RECORDS ARE WHERE SOMEONE LOOKED, NOT WHERE THE FISH ARE. A record count is a count of records near here and nothing else -- it is not abundance, and a species with few records is not rare. Absence of records is not absence of fish.
