Grass sweetlip

Lethrinus laticaudis

Grass sweetlip (Lethrinus laticaudis) — illustration

Illustration: Bloom by Day

Olive-brown and mottled, with faint pale blotches and a blue streak under each eye that only shows close up. It sits over the sand-reef edge in small loose groups and tends to drift off quietly rather than bolt.

Description written for Bloom. RECORDS ARE WHERE SOMEONE LOOKED, NOT WHERE THE FISH ARE. A record count is a count of records near here and nothing else -- it is not abundance, and a species with few records is not rare. Absence of records is not absence of fish.
